Amazon has expanded its renewable electricity portfolio by almost a third after signing a series of new power purchase agreements (PPAs) totaling 3.5 GW of additional capacity worldwide, cementing its position as the largest buyer renewable energy corporation in the world.
According to BusinessGreen , the new PPAs announced cover 37 renewable energy projects in the United States, Spain, France, Australia, Canada, India, Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from wind farms and large-scale solar projects to installations rooftop solar.
With them, Amazon's total portfolio of renewable Chinese American Phone Number List energy projects , from which the company directly acquires electricity for its operations, goes from 12.2 GW to 15.7 GW, which represents an increase of 30%.
In total, Amazon now has PPA agreements comprising 310 renewable energy projects, including 134 wind and solar farms, and 176 building solar projects.
Amazon CEO Andy Jy said the new wave of PPA deals announced would bring the company closer to its goal of powering 100% of its global operations with renewable energy by 2025.
Renewable energy at Amazon continues to grow
Our commitment to protecting the planet and limiting Amazon's impact on the environment has led us to become the largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy in the world in both 2020 and 2021.
Given the growth of our business, and our mission to run 100% of Amazon's operations with renewable energy, we are not slowing down our renewable investments.

Once fully operational, the 310 Amazon-supported renewable energy projects around the world are expected to produce 42,000 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity per year, which it estimates would meet the needs of 11 million of European households per year.
It also estimates that these clean energy projects will help avoid 17.3 million metric tons of carbon emissions each year, which is equivalent to removing more than 3.7 million cars from U.S. roads annually.
